From Anthony Lewis, founder of Neat Shiny Owl:
I really like taking pictures…
Scratch that. I really, really like making art.
Actually, scratch that again…
I am in love with the art I see
around me every day.
I find it in the clouds, in parked bikes and former telephone booths, I find it in the oddly textured surface that picks up light from a cafe’s window. I’m obsessed with writing on the wall. And clever spoons. Boots. Hand-sized objects. Gates, doors and openings.
But perhaps most of all,
I am in love with the grand art that is people.
I hope that you have found your way here because I
bumped into you on the street and struck up a conversation,
or at least maybe smiled at you and said hey.
Have a further look around and if you like what you see, by all means
I like getting to know my clients beforehand so meeting over tea is always
something exciting in preparation for your next project. If you know a place, I’m there. Hope to hear from you soon!
NYC based portrait and event photographer.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, my artwork has always reflected and been inspired by New York. I draw inspiration from the city’s dynamism, as well as fashion, graffiti, graphic design, film and music. New York is a melting pot of different ethnicities, cultures, and personalities and I am able to draw inspiration from all the many facets of this vast city. Although New York has been my muse throughout my artistic life, I also draw inspiration from my travels throughout the United States and abroad. Art is about expression; I live through my expression in various art forms from design, to photography to painting. I hope to transcend through generations with my work and inspire future artists in the making.

Original, provocative paintings and sculptures created by rising local and international artists adorn all walls and rooms.
With a degree in international relations with a concentration in gender, culture, and global society from the University of Southern California and masters in women’s history from Sarah Lawrence College, my art is a feminist statement that seeks to combat androcentric world views of women’s role in society. Through my compositions and texture, I move women from marginalized spaces to spaces of power and agency. Largely influenced by my experiences in New York and studies at Sarah Lawrence College, my artwork places women at the forefront of the narrative.
In my current work, I use my personal story: the loss of a child, the ending of a relationship, relocation and isolation, to explore the psychology of human emotion through the female body. The series, Transitions, are paintings of sunsets and sunrises that I photographed for nine months in order to explore the aftermath of a traumatic experience. I use nature to illustrate the emotional and mental state of the individual post-trauma. By the end of the nine month project, I noticed that each moment of pain experienced, the sky was turbulent; each moment of peace witnessed; the sky was calm; each moment of happiness enjoyed; the sky was colorful. I also use my own body as the subject in my work. The series, Un-Silenced: Liberating the Black Female Body through Self-Portraiture, alludes to the Khalil Gibran quote “we chose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them.” The self-portraits explore the cycle of emotions a woman goes through leading up to a traumatic experience. The emotions aren’t always sad; they can be joyous, sexual, and sometimes anxious resulting in self-discovery and personal growth.
